Trip to Lithuania: June 23-July 14, 2010:


On the road through Poland, close to Belarus eating on the road Andrea on stage at Europos Centras Lithuania's only remaining wooden synagogue in Ziezmariai. a typical house that was owned by members of the Jewish community in Seredzius Kaunas - the Yoelsons traveled from Seredzius to Kaunas in the late 1880s. Kedainiai near Kaunas, the city where Al Jolson's parents had met each other Somewhere between Kedainiai and Kaunas on the road on top of the Hillfort in Seredzius, Al Jolson's hometown. the fundament of the former main Synagogue in Seredzius. This former wooden Synagogue was used during Jolson's time Jens with our guide (center) and the mayor (left) of Seredzius. The mayor was the only Lithuanian we talked to who had heard of Al Jolson before Lithuanian log cabin with thatched roof bringing Al Jolson back to his hometown Bringing Al Jolson's voice back to the Nemunas River
