In September of 2010 we received an email from Wyman Brent. He said he was the founder of the Vilnius Jewish Library and would like to purchase our documentary Al Jolson and The Jazz Singer. He had seen a link to our website on imdb.com. When we heard that the film was supposed to become a part of the library collection, we decided to donate the film along with our other Jolson documentaries.

November 8-28, 2010:

We are proud to be able to support the Vilnius Jewish Library, the first Jewish library in Lithuania since 1943, founded by Wyman Brent (a Gentile from California who now lives in Vilnius). Mr. Brent will spend 3 weeks with us in Northern Germany to attend the Kristallnacht ceremonies in Kiel and to meet with political, cultural, and educational officials in Kiel, Hamburg, and Berlin.

Furthermore, it is planned to have a big Al Jolson event with us at the Vilnius Jewish Library after its grand opening in spring of 2011.

Potential Al Jolson Plaque in Lithuania on Next Level

On our last trip to Lithuania in October of 2010, we were able to discuss our idea of a Jolson plaque in his hometown Seredzius with the mayor and the governor of Jurbarkas. The idea was very welcomed, and there is currently a competition among artists in terms of the shape of the plaque being discussed. English translation will follow.
